World Contraceptive day mission is to improve awareness of contraception and enable young people to make informed choices on their reproductive health. Rwanda joins the rest of the world to celebrate the World Contraception Day (WCD) the event was organized virtually by Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in partnership with civil society organizations.

Today 26 September 2020 is  world contraceptive day.

World Contraceptive day mission is to improve awareness of contraception and enable young people to make informed choices on their reproductive health.  Rwanda joins the rest of the world to celebrate the World Contraception Day (WCD) the event was organized virtually by Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in partnership with civil society organizations. Family planning is the information, means and methods that allow individuals to decide if and when to have children using contraceptives, traditional methods and abstinence.

Family planning also includes information about how to become pregnant when it is desirable, as well as treatment of infertility. Worldwide among 1.9 billion women 15-49 years living in the world, 1.1 billion have a need for family planning.  

More than 800M women and girls die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth, million women 15-49 with unmet needs for modern contraceptives. 35 million have abortions in unsafe conditions; 9 million do not receive the necessary care for complications after an unsafe abortion.

60 % of married adolescent girls (aged 15–19) in developing countries have an unmet demand for modern contraception. In Rwanda 53% meet family planning, 4.2 fertility rate 19% still unmet family planning. Even tremendous achievement in family planning, For Young people there are   Youth center, Youth corner, Youth clubs in schools and at community level that help this group.
