Access to clean water as COVID-19 prevention to be launched

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) intended overall access to clean water, Industry accounts for over 19%, agricultural supply chains for 70% more. SDGs goals cannot be achieved without corporate action, but significant progress will rely on robust data on the current landscape and what needs to change to ensure environmental sustainability on water.

The Government of Rwanda considered access to clean water as a key priority for community well being, National Strategy for Transformation (NST1) Seven years’ program envisaged further improve integrated water resource management, water catchment areas will be effectively managed and protected to mitigate disasters in partnership with communities. Furthermore, 100% access to clean water will be ensured by 2024.

The WHO declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic, and recommended communities to take social distancing measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Globally, COVID -19 is more than a public health challenge it has laid bare the consequences of persistent systemic inequalities and is threatening our social economic effects. WHO recommended Frequently washing hands using   based alcohol rub or soap Wash hands, always after coughing, sneezing, when caring for the sick, before, during after prepare a food, before eating, after toilet and when hands are visible dirty.

Better Future for Generations a non-government organization is implementing Access to clean water as COVID-19 prevention project, under the support of Next Leaders ‘s Initiative for Sustainability (Nelis) Africa program.  This project will provide a clean water and sanitary essentials to more than 500 vulnerable people located in Kicukiro district, Nyarugunga Sector.

The micro project will run for 2 weeks, the Phase one consists by installing water system to community and the final ones consists of construction of water protection to ensure its sustainability.
